Raj & DK’s upcoming action-packed spy thriller Citadel: Honey Bunny dropped its gripping trailer today (October 15) ahead of its premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the Indian version of the global franchise Citadel is one of the highly anticipated series of the streaming giant. During the trailer launch event, the leading cast along with the showrunners expressed their excitement over their series and also revealed why it is not just a remake.

‘Citadel: Honey Bunny is not a remake’

The American spy actioner, Citadel, created by Josh Appelbaum, Bryan Oh, and David Weil, featured the formidable likes of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden as the leading duo. The high-budget series on Prime Video is getting its Indian version with Citadel: Honey Bunny. Ahead of its grand premiere on November 7 on the streaming platform, the makers unveiled the action-packed and drama-filled trailer on October 15. During a conversation with the show’s creators Raj & DK, it is revealed that the series is not exactly a remake of the American show, but it will add to the global picture.

“You’ve seen the American Citadel, seen the Italian now, it has a new flavour. Everybody keeps saying it’s a remake but it is not. It’s an original series that forms a part of the global picture,” Raj & DK shared at the trailer launch event.

The creator duo also explained that the key mantra behind this action series is to focus on the Indian audience and envision it to make it a success locally before gearing up for global reach.

“The key mantra is first to make it work locally, then reach globally. So the idea is to make something that is true to India, true to our audience, and true to all of us and make it in such a way that it can travel across as well,” Citadel: Honey Bunny creators added.

Amazon Prime Video expanded the Citadel universe with an Italian and Indian version. While the Italian series, Citadel: Diana, released on October 10, the Indian installment titled Citadel: Honey Bunny is slated to premiere on November 7 and features Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Created by Raj & DK, along with Sita Menon, the series seems like a promising watch for action and thrill seekers.
